Week 3: 14th March

Attempt 2 at photoshop, now counting 5 hours of work and still unable to figure it out. Next week’s plan: Tutorials.

Here is my cat assignment attempt.

I saw the cat on the book and imagined him innocently terrorising a library.

First of all I removed the background of the cat image and found a vintage library background.

I edited the perspective of the cat to be a proper angle including scale. I then attempted to filter the cat to fit into the same texture of the background using the sharpening tool and other filters.

I added a second cat, a smaller one hiding in the books, added some more books, adjusted the brightness to look like late afternoon. encompassing my vision of the two cats getting trapped in a library and having no choice but to make a mess.

I planned to add blowing curtains in the left hand side but my skills currently won’t allow it. I need to put more time into exploring photoshop and its tools.

Week 2: 14th March

Photoshop just may be the biggest challenge of my year.

I am so excited to learn more about Photoshop, I know it is such a useful tool. My problem comes when I have big visions for an image but just don’t have the skills to develop it. I really struggled with this first image of the Maraetai wharf, I imagined turning the sky to night, casting moon shadows on the water, a multitude of stars in the sky and darkening the light of the wharf. However, my image process including a lot of frustration, pop us telling me that I can’t do the action and somehow deleting my work.

My process:

My process started with an image of the Maraetai Beach wharf which is positioned at the end of my driveway. I chose this image to describe myself because this happened to be the image I took my first morning of traveling to Unitec.

I then removed the sky and cropped out the road, darkened the bridge removed some trees.

Added new layer and sunset background

Used smudge tool to soften landscape and horizion to not appear so sharp.
